UCAS applications for England up 6% for 2007

The latest UCAS application figures published today (Wed 25 April 2007) show that the number of people applying to full-time undergraduate courses in England has increased by 6 per cent. The snapshot of applications was taken at 24 March 2007, the closing date for Art and Design Route B applications. The figures also show that the proportion of applicants to English institutions from low socio-economic groups has increased from 31.9% to 32.3%.

Commenting on the figures Sir Martin Harris, Director of OFFA, said:

‘I am reassured by the continued rise in applications to English institutions for 2007, and by the evidence that the proportion of those applying from lower socio-economic groups remains stable. I would encourage all applicants to continue to explore the full range of bursaries available to them.’
